Ahmed has a secret. As he travels through Cairo he thinks of his secret as a friend and can't wait to tell his family. The book is a fabulous journey through the life of a boy and what life is like in the city of Cairo. The secret is always there as a tantalizing carrot but you don't find out what it is until the end and you have to read the book to find out.
