I love alternate versions of fairy tales and this one was no exception. Set in the Caribbean, this version of Rapunzel was a lot of fun. Many of the elements of the original version remain with a few exceptions. In this version the mother craves sugar cane and the education of Sugar Cane is interesting. In addition, the rescue of Sugar Cane from the tower and how she reunites with King and her parents has a more Caribbean flair. I really enjoyed this book.
